I Knew That Feeling All Too Well (queue the 10 min. version)
I've been there, navigating through waves of productivity and exhaustion, feeling like I was on a rollercoaster of productivity. It’s hard enough overcoming obstacles and shifting mindsets as a female entrepreneur, but trying to be “productive” everyday when our energy as women doesn’t work the same way as men? It's tough, draining, and can leave you wondering if there's a better way.
The Turning Point
A few months ago, I hit a wall. I was exhausted, lacking motivation, and struggling to see a clear path forward. That's when I decided to give this productivity planning method a try. The results? They blew me away.
Let me share with you the solution that completely turned things around for me.
Planning Around Your Cycle
Let's talk about planning your business around your cycle. I know, it might sound unconventional or even a bit out there at first. Trust me; I was skeptical too. But desperate times call for bold measures, and this approach was a game-changer for my productivity, focus, and overall well-being.
It's Not What You Think
Now, you might be thinking, "That's insane! How could planning my business tasks around my cycle make such a difference?" Believe me, I've never been one for pseudoscience or trends without substance, but this is about understanding your body's natural rhythms and optimizing your work accordingly.
Benefits Beyond Measure
Since aligning my tasks with my cycle, I've experienced a significant increase in productivity. I no longer feel guilty or procrastinate as much. During my luteal phase, traditionally a low-energy period for me, I've been more productive than ever. The boost in confidence and sense of accomplishment each day is priceless.
Understanding Your Phases
So, what exactly does it mean to plan around your cycle? Let's break it down into phases:
Menstruation: A time for introspection and planning high-level strategies.
Follicular: Energy rises; focus on creative tasks, brainstorming, and new ideas.
Ovulation: Peak energy; tackle challenging tasks, meetings, and strategic decisions.
Luteal: Reflective period; focus on analysis, fine-tuning, and preparation for the next cycle.
How to Plan Your Business Tasks Around Your Cycle
To make planning easier, I created an Eagle Eye Calendar, a vertical year-at-a-glace calendar that's just the right size for mini-post it notes to fit in the boxes. I categorize tasks based on my cycle phases and use color coded sticky notes for an easy view of what I have ahead (but with the sticky notes, I can easily move things around if things change). I wrote an in-depth guide on how to plan your tasks around your period, but I just can't emphasize enough how this system has changed my business and my life.
I'm getting more done in less time.
I'm not feeling like a failure anymore.
Every night (no matter the time of month), I go to bed feeling accomplished and proud of myself for what I did.
Who would have thought- working with our bodies instead of against them would make such a difference?

Embrace the Power of Productivity Planning
If you're tired of the productivity rollercoaster, consider planning your tasks around your menstrual cycle. It's not about fitting into stereotypes or forcing productivity; it's about working with your body to achieve optimal results. I highly recommend giving it a try and experiencing the transformative power yourself.
